In honor and gratitude for the great work done by Senator James Donovan, several buildings and facilities in New York and elsewhere were named after him. In Marcy, New York, the city where Senator Donovan was born, Donovan Hall of the State University of New York Institute of Technology was named in Senator Donovan’s honor.
It is quite appropriate that this building be named after Senator Donovan, well known for his dedication to improving education for all in New York State. Donovan Hall of SUNYIT houses within its walls the well-attended learning center, where everyone can come and receive one-on-one peer and professional tutoring, writing help, reading and study skills support, English as a second language tutoring and help with microcomputers. Workshops and instructional software, all designed to help students succeed, are also available in the well-named Donovan Hall.
