James H Donovan and Parents as Reading Partners

During his time as a Senator, James H Donovan made many achievements. One of these was the establishment of the Parents as Reading Partners.  This is a joint venture between staff, parents and the community to “build a reading partnership between the home and the school.”  The programs try to emphasize the importance of parents reading with their children for at least fifteen minutes a day in an attempt to “foster the love of reading in children” by getting their parents to set aside this time per day to read with them.  It is a great way of getting parents to be very active in their children’s lives and development.
