The Many Roles of Senator James Donovan

James H. Donovan is well known for his role as New York State Senator, but he served in many other ways as well. Aside from being committed to the improvement of education, he served two tours of duty as a marine in World War II.

He began his work in public office when he was elected to the Chadwicks Bpard of Education in 1959. He went on to serve as councilman for the New Hartford Town in 1961, and Town Supervisor in 1963. He was elected to the senate in 1965.
